Rochester Americans 2011-12 Preview: Centers

AUTHOR: | IN: Rochester Americans | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Rochester Americans quest for a 7th Calder Cup begins on October 8th with an away date against the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Amerks, entering their 56th season, will kick things off at home on October 13th with a duel against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. The home date should be an exciting one, as the Sabres brass has sent out invitations to every Amerks alumni to take part in a pre-game celebration. Could Terry Pegula and Ted Black possibly be any more wonderful?  A multitude of players that competed in the recent Traverse City Prospects Tournament for the Sabres will be suiting [...]

September Preview: Vancouver Canucks

AUTHOR: | IN: NHL | COMMENTS: None Yet

After a short off season, the Vancouver Canucks are ready to try and repeat the feat they have been doing for the past couple of seasons, and that is dominate in the Western Conference.  The one problem however, is that they have not been able to carry that domination over into the post season.  Chicago almost knocked them out in the first round, and Boston took care of them in seven games in the Finals.  As the other member of the class of 1970 – I wouldn’t care if the Canucks won a Stanley Cup, I would just like to [...]

September Previews: Toronto Maple Leafs

AUTHOR: | IN: NHL | COMMENTS: None Yet

September is almost over, fantasy drafts are in full swing, and the arm chair general managers across the country are going over their fantasy lineups for the season, hoping to have bragging rights amongst their friends.  Speaking of fantasy, todays featured team for the Fansided NHL 30 in 30 feature is the Toronto Maple Leafs.  It use to be real easy for me to ignore the Maple Leafs.  Despite the fact that they were just a few hours North of us, they played in the Western Conference.  Lately though, the pain in the ass Leafs invade the arena, ahem – [...]

Sabres Preseason: First Five & Terry Pegula’s Impact

AUTHOR: | IN: NHL, Players, Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

One cannot deny that the Buffalo Sabres as a team have had a completely different outlook on after Feb. 22 of last year. Terry Pegula has changed this team’s thoughts on winning immediately after buying the team from Tom Golisano earlier this year. An active offseason adding on defenseman Christian Ehrhoff fresh off his Stanley Cup Final loss with the Vancouver Canucks, tough guy defenseman Robyn Regehr, and forward Ville Leino formally with the Philadelphia Flyers. With, all this additions he also dropped $5 million on renovations to both home and visitors locker rooms. Along with revamping the concessions and [...]

League Suspends Brad Boyes

AUTHOR: | IN: NHL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Last night at the Buffalo Sabres fourth preseason game, Colby Armstrong hit Paul Gaustad in the numbers, sending Gaustad into the boards head first defenseless against the unforgiving glass and dasher boards that surrounding the rink.  Sitting in section 319, most were in agreement that the league would review the incident, and Mr. Armstrong  would be hearing from the league.  Not so much. The league has handed down a two game suspension for Buffalo Sabres forward Brad Boyes, for his illegal hit to the head on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joe Colborne.  Funny thing is, Armstrong got two minutes for [...]

The Case For Luke Adam

AUTHOR: | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you had asked me, during the summer, if I thought center Luke Adam had a shot at making the Buffalo Sabres opening night roster, I would have said something like, “Good hands, but too slow”. Not anymore.
